PPS 6016 - History, Trends, Legal and Ethical Issues in Schools and Support Services

This course is designed to introduce students to the history of and roles and responsibilities of school counselors and psychologists. Course reviews guidelines for the various disciplines in the practice of psychology with the school setting, including issues of child abuse, privileged communication, confidentiality, patient’s rights and Tarasoff issues, as well as in-depth study of IDEA regulations. This course reviews guidelines for APA, AAMFT in the practice of psychology within the school setting.
