BUS 7010 - Philosophy of Science(3 units) Introduction to the steps that lead to successful identification and delineation of a research project and a dissertation. The course addresses the issues of ontology and epistemology that underlie management research, including principles of evidence, data, and alternative ways of understanding in the development of basic and applied knowledge in the management sciences. Topics include finding and refining a dissertation topic, formulating hypotheses, choosing among qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods, and writing, presentation, and research ethics. Course materials survey library resources and other sources of secondary data, and explore options for primary data collection including survey research and rating scale Prerequisites: Second year doctoral candidate
