Curriculum and Degree Requirements

The Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology (MAOP) degree is designed as a highly applied and professional practice oriented educational program for students who desire to work as internal or external organization effectiveness consultants, human resources business partners, project team leaders, or managers.

This is a 46-unit program that can be completed in two years on a full-time basis, or three to four years on a part-time basis. Courses are offered in the late afternoons and evenings to accommodate working adults. In addition, some classes combine more intensive weekend sessions with weekly scheduled classes. The curriculum includes a full semester applied field work project under faculty supervision.

A key component of our training model is a 120 hour field project students complete under faculty supervision during their final semester in the Program. Student field projects can be customized and shaped to meet their specific professional development needs and interests.

Writing Evaluation: New students are given a diagnostic writing exam during the orientation week prior to the start of the first semester of classes. Students whose skills are evaluated as in need of improvement are encouraged to take a 2-unit seminar in academic and professional writing during their first semester in the program.  Note:  This two-unit seminar does not count toward the 46-units required for degree completion.

The curriculum outlined below applies to full-time students. Part-time students may take courses in a somewhat different combination and sequence. Modifications can occur to the course schedule outlined.
