Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Program Description/Overview

Graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and are prepared to enter professional nursing practice in a variety of healthcare settings. The BSN curriculum is 120 credits, including 73 nursing credits and 47 general education credits. Nursing credits consist of 690 didactic hours (46 credits), 270 skill laboratory hours (9 credits), and 810 clinical hours (18 credits). Of the 1,770 total nursing hours, 72.8% are taught in person, or 1,290 hours. As a cohort-based program, the Core Nursing program will be taught in six trimesters following two trimesters of pre-nursing general education courses. Students will be admitted three times a year, in September, January, and May starting in 2024. The first cohort of students is projected to start in January 2024 and complete the program in December 2025.

Professional Behavior Expectations/Ethical Guidelines

Students will be expected to adhere to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Licensure

Students successfully completing all degree requirements for Alliant’s BSN program are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN) through the Arizona Board of Nursing or other selected state board of nursing.

Students considering or planning to apply for licensure in states other than Arizona are required to contact the University Admissions Office for more information.

Graduates who successfully pass the Arizona Board of Nursing NCLEX Exam and who have received their license may be eligible to work as a Registered Nurse in a variety of settings. Following is a breakdown of where most Registered Nurses can seek employment opportunities:

Programmatic Accreditation

Alliant has applied for Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education programmatic accreditation after students have completed at least two trimesters in the program.

The BSN program has 810 clinical hours, including 180 precepted hours.

Degree Requirements

Students will take standardized exams during the clinical courses in preparation for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN). These exams are integrated into the curriculum. In the last trimester students will take an NCLEX readiness exam. 

Students are expected to make academic and professional progress throughout the program. Degrees will only be awarded to students meeting all policies and requirements. Please note that these expectations are academic in nature and are expected in addition to all Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) guidelines.
