California School of Management & Leadership

The mission of California School of Management & Leadership (CSML) is to prepare individuals for professional careers of the future in business, information systems & technology, digital business disciplines, leadership, and management. We develop intellectually engaged, culturally sensitive, and globally aware leaders who recognize economic opportunities and work towards equitable economic empowerment at all levels of society. As scholars and professional practitioners, we prepare our students to address challenges with integrity and compassion.

CSML is a different kind of management school. It combines experiential learning and practical training with multidisciplinary approaches, models and theories to help students gain the skills needed to help contemporary organizations identify and address modern problems. CSML weaves technology and quantitative aspects with the richness and diversity of Business and Management when training students in its programs. CSML trains through a global perspective to prepare its graduates for career success.

Since we believe it is so important to teach management in a broad economic and social context, we have broadened our mission. In CSML programs, we are moving business education from a focus on wealth-creation toward an emphasis on economic empowerment for the communities served while solving problems in the local and global contexts. We encourage students to explore ideas across boundaries - international, disciplinary, and even mindsets - and to collaborate in applying what they have learned in real-world and client projects.

CSML’s ConsultEX program is designed to provide students with Practical Training opportunities and applied experience in real-world projects. CSML programs require Practical Training throughout the program starting from day one. Students work on client projects or applied projects which allow them to gain valuable skills. The program is led by faculty experts with several years of experience who guide and advise students. It is a highly collaborative environment where students work in teams to build professionalism, work discipline, teamwork and communication skills. We have a rich international tradition with students from over 100 countries studying with us in CSML and its predecessor, US International University (USIU). CSML students are made up of diverse backgrounds and nationalities, adding value to our school, the provided education, and our widely located alumni network.

Our students benefit from close interaction with a faculty characterized by professional and business experience as well as academic credentials. They participate in classes that emphasize an applied approach to professional preparation.

CSML programs deliver courses in an 8-week duration. Some business program cohorts feature executive evening courses that meet one evening a week. CSML programs also offer weekend courses with “blended” learning communities in some of our cohorts (further details in catalog).

Information about the CSML programs can be found in the Programs  section of the catalog.
