ACR65000 - Criminal Law and Procedure(3 units) The course examines the definitions and necessary elements of crime, principles inherent in legal decision making, such as questions of fact versus questions of law, legal requirements and doctrines such as ignorance of fact and ignorance of law, causation, attempt, complicity and conspiracy, and juvenile versus adult proceedings. Also provides an overview of arrest through appellate proceedings, including bail, arraignment, preliminary motions and hearings, grand jury proceedings, discovery and trial procedure. Affirmative defenses and recent Supreme Court decisions on right to counsel, fair trial and other constitutional guarantees are addressed.
