PSY71063 - Biological Foundations of Clinical Practice(3 units) This course focuses on topics in the neurosciences that have direct clinical and forensic implications and applications. The course is divided into four main sections: neuropsychology (anatomy and physiology of the brain and autonomic nervous system, neuro-maturation, commonly encountered neurologic disorders that present with psychiatric symptoms), neurobiology of psychiatric disorders (with a focus on anxiety, depression and psychological trauma, psychosomatic medicine; also addressed are treatment implications derived from this body of research), the neuroscience perspectives on psychotherapy and medical disorders that present with psychiatric symptomatology.
