PSY71060 - Biological Foundations of Clinical Practice(3 to 4 units) This course focuses on topics in the neurosciences that have direct clinical and forensic implications and applications. The course is divided into four main sections: neuropsychology (anatomy and physiology of the brain and autonomic nervous system, neuro-maturation, commonly encountered neurologic disorders that present with psychiatric symptoms), neurobiology of psychiatric disorders (with a focus on anxiety, depression and psychological trauma, psychosomatic medicine; also addressed are treatment implications derived from this body of research), the neuroscience perspectives on psychotherapy and medical disorders that present with psychiatric symptomatology.
