Incorporates theories, models, concepts, and research paradigms encountered in prior courses into expanded literature searches. Participates in synchronous workshops on effective literature searches, academic writing, the research process, and data analysis. Evaluates the current literature with the aim of selecting a dissertation topic and formulating the research problem. Delivers the first part of the research proposal, including a statement of the problem, research purpose and significance, key variables, research questions, and conceptual model. Meets with each core program faculty member to discuss preliminary research ideas.
