Building upon the direct-entry MSN student’s leadership skills, this course provides knowledge, skills, attitudes and abilities essential for future nurse leaders. The course focuses on nursing roles and responsibilities within current and emerging healthcare environments, and business skills needed to be successful in these roles. Strategic management, professional practice models, continuous quality improvement processes, workforce management, and budgeting concepts will be explored. The impact of healthcare costs, reimbursement patterns, emerging technology, and healthcare policy on current nursing practice and quality healthcare delivery will also be discussed.
