BIO15000 - Introduction to General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry

In this introductory chemistry course students will learn the concepts of general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. In the general chemistry component, students will develop an understanding of basic properties and states of matter, atom, molecules, intermolecular interactions, chemical equations, solution chemistry and gas laws. In the organic chemistry component, students will learn about the major categories of organic compounds, including saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons and oxygen- and nitrogen-containing compounds. In the biochemistry component, students will dive into the concepts such as the composition, structure and functions of the four major biological macromolecules.
