PSY65516 - Introduction to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy for MFT

This course will survey the current range of clinical applications and scientific investigations of psychedelics, as well as touch on the history, science, neurobiology, and ethical and legal issues, including barriers to access and equity, associated with psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. We will consider the limits of our current knowledge about the application of psychedelics in medicine and research, addressing issues of sample selection, expectancy, blinding, and other elements of clinical research. In guided discussion format, students will engage directly with the central questions facing clinicians, scientists, regulators, and clients today in the psychedelic arena. This course will provide clinicians the information they require to evaluate their own interest and participation in this emerging field of research and practice.
