PSY65514 - MFT Practice in Educational Systems(3 Units) The purpose of this course is to introduce you to educational systems and explore how therapists/counselors/helpers make distinctions on how to position themselves drawing for an ethical stance. Specifically, when consulting with families and children, education experiences can often go unacknowledged in the realm of psychotherapy services. We will explore through a critical lens consideration about the role of power, social justice, culture, class, privilege, etc. as they relate to available resources and knowledge in how to support families, children, and communities. Rather than using traditional approaches to learning, this course will focus on experience and practice-based methods where teaching takes place primarily from inside the work itself. This course will also focus on narrative practices integrated into counseling in educational systems.
