Shirley M. Hufstedler School of Education


The Shirley M. Hufstedler School of Education at Alliant International University offers a full spectrum of credential, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs geared toward preparing leaders who can meet the global educational needs of the 21st Century. The Hufstedler School of Education (HSOE) integrates important trans-disciplinary psychological, cross-cultural, and leadership concepts into all programs, especially as related to the effective teaching, assessment, and mentoring of diverse populations in inclusive lifelong learning climates globally.

The Hufstedler School of Education offers credential and certificate programs approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). The Hufstedler School of Education offers the Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential; the Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential; the Preliminary and Clear Educational Specialist Teaching Credentials; the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential; School Psychology Credential; the Preliminary Administrative Services (PAS) Credential, and the California Teachers of English Learners Certificate (CTEL), and the Authorization in Autism Spectrum Disorders program. Other certificates include School Based Mental Health and Educational Neuropsychology. In addition, the Hufstedler School of Education offers bachelor’s degrees in Liberal Studies (Mexico City only) and Child Development, as well as the master’s and doctoral degree programs in Educational Leadership and Management, Educational and School Psychology, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The Master of Arts in Education program in Teaching, with National Board for Professional Teaching Standards preparation, is offered online, as are other emphasis areas.
