LDR 8700 - Contemporary and Traditional Theories of Leadership

This course provides a thorough grounding in established leadership theory and practice. From post-industrial to historical views, behavioral sciences movement to neurosciences and brain research, integral theory, Servant and Authentic-Relational and Transformational models. The course considers distinction between leadership and authority. The treatment of leadership theory will place an emphasis on relating theory and practice personal values and behaviors, immediate and ongoing enhancement of conceptual and applied leadership skills, increased insight into the many dimensions of leadership, and the formulation of a personal philosophy of leadership.
