Criminal Justice: BS

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice program is designed to explore a broad range of topics that cover criminology, juvenile justice, ethics, constitutional law and related areas.

Program Outcomes


  • Students will demonstrate foundational knowledge of key areas of organizational functioning.
  • Students will articulate their knowledge of law and procedure and the processes that guide them in the legal/criminal justice systems.

General Criminal Justice Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will evaluate the various roles of the criminal justice system (the police, the courts, and corrections) in the administration of justice.
  • Students will analyze the causes and results of criminal acts and the theories used to explain criminal behavior and deviance.
  • Students will articulate the values, ethics, and views of diverse segments of society and their effect on the criminal justice profession.
  • Students will analyze and critically think through criminal justice issues facing criminal justice practitioners.

Curriculum and Degree Requirements


The minimum number of units necessary to receive the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, including courses for the major, the business core and general education, exclusive of foundation courses is 120 units.

    1. Oral/Written/Visual Communication (must take EN150T and EN230T to ensure Oral Communication unless comparable courses have been taken/transferred in)
    3. Math/Data Analysis - must choose College Math and another course which fits the needs of the student’s chosen major/profession
  • Two (2) each from Groups 2, 4, and 5
