EDU 6831 - Advanced Strategies for Teaching Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders

This is a 3-unit course that develops a candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities for educating students with ASD utilizing evidence based and multi-faceted methodologies and strategies. Participants will become familiar with formal and informal teaching tools, specific to the ASD population, to ensure students reach their maximum potential across all areas of development. Behavioral based teaching strategies, structured teaching, visual support strategies, positive behavior supports and working with team members will be discussed. All strategies will be related back to core goals and curriculum to ensure candidate’s ability to integrate acquired knowledge into day-to-day programming.
