Alliant’s School of Management offers a certificate in HIPAA Security and Risk Assessment Analyst. Security and privacy issues related to the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) have become a critical function in large as well as small healthcare organizations. Hospitals, clinics, physician practices, and all types of healthcare organizations have to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in order to qualify for continued healthcare systems and funding. IT systems that comply with HIPAA rules and can be assessed for infrastructure, security, privacy, disaster recovery and informatics capability are critical for healthcare professionals. The training allows students to learn about HIPAA regulations and how to assess and mitigate risks to the security and privacy of patient data. The 50-hour program will utilize in-person discussions, online curriculum, as well as hands on practice using software and systems. After completing the training, students can join healthcare organizations in their risk assessment departments or healthcare IT consulting companies.
