This MBA program at Alliant School of Management provides advanced business, management and analytical skills, and extensive practical experience in applying these skills, particularly in multicultural contexts. The MBA degree is designed to offer flexibility to students who have completed prior business courses.
The program will be offered on-ground with a combination of hybrid and online study components.

Program Outcomes

Training and Learning Model
The MBA program at Alliant’s School of Management provides advanced business, management and analytical skills and extensive practical experience applying those skills, especially in multicultural contexts.
The program harnesses Alliant’s industry and corporate connections in regional as well as international areas and provides networking and professional development opportunities including internships, community service learning and personal branding workshops.
Specialized Admissions Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the requirements stipulated in the “Admissions and Registration” section of the University catalog, and must also meet the following criteria:
GPA: Applicants need to meet one of the following GPA requirements
- Overall Bachelor’s GPA is 2.75 or above
- Overall Bachelor’s GPA is between 2.60 and 2.75, plus
- Minimum five (5) years professional work experience, or
- Minimum GPA of 2.75 in the last 60 units of coursework (include graduate work) completed
- An accredited master’s degree with overall GPA 3.0 or above
Resume: A current resume is required
Recommendations: Encouraged but not required
Personal essay: A 1 to 2 page personal essay describing the following is required:
- a brief autobiographical statement including future professional plans
- the professional organizations to which you belong and
- honors, activities and other creative accomplishments.
English Proficiency (International applicants):
- ASM will admit students with IELTS score of 6.0 with no individual band score below 5.5 (TOEFL IBT 75, PTE 50). Students can start their academic program immediately on entry into their program. Students who do not meet ESL requirements are encouraged to enroll at our San Diego campus where they may receive ESL instruction and support.
Upon receipt and review of all documentation, the candidate will be considered for final admission. Final admissions decision will be made by the Program Faculty.
Alliant reserves the right to require a student to take additional English instruction as demonstrated by his/her academic performance.
Curriculum and Degree Requirements
Completion of 12 courses, consisting of eight core courses and four concentration courses. Courses are three units each and this leads to the requirement of completing 36 units, consisting of 24 core units and 12 concentration units.
Students, who don’t have a business major, are required to take two (2) additional courses before starting their MBA curriculum of 12 courses or 36 units. The total number of courses for a non-business major is 14: 2 foundation courses and 12 courses as a part of the MBA curriculum
The MBA curriculum of 12 courses is followed, as it would for business majors, after the 4 foundation courses are completed.

Health Care Management
The Health Care Management concentration in the MBA gives students a comprehensive understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, its infrastructure, business and operations models, as well as the role of health information system. Students further explore the current legal, economic, and financial issues faced by the industry, and the outlook of the industry. Potential career opportunities for students with Health Care Management concentration include hospital administrator, health care consultant, or private practice manager.
Healthcare Informatics
Healthcare Informatics involves systems such as electronic health records (EHR) and health information exchange standards (HIE). Analyzing the data of patient care and health facility administration is also included in the skills obtained in this concentration.
Human Resource Management
The purpose of HRM is to maximize the productivity of an organization by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees. Topics covered in this concentration include component of HR systems, utility of selection systems, legal issues, environmental scanning, workforce planning and linking HR strategy to business objectives.
Management and Leadership
This concentration is designed for students interested in learning about the interdependencies between several functions and departments in an organization, as well as developing leadership skills in managing and leading within a number of business areas in the operations, administration, systems, people and physical resources. Principles and models for planning and leading organizational grown and changes are also discussed.
Marketing
In the MBA Marketing concentration, students learn important principles and applications of branding and brand management, how to develop and articulate marketing plan and sales strategy, how to conduct market research, collect and analyze data, and gain in-depth understanding of consumer behaviors in the global context and the impacts of national and geographic cultures.
Organizational Development
In addition to the core business concepts and skills learned in the general MBA curriculum, students learn essential and useful skills in training and assessment, consultation, and facilitation within group settings in the Organizational Development concentration. Students also look into the individual behavior in group setting and the role of cultural diversity plays in such setting. Organizational change and development topics are covered to equip students with knowledge in dealing with the ever-fast changing business environment.
Pharmaceutical Industry Management
With the concentration in Pharmaceutical Industry Management, students learn the structure, legal and regulatory issues related to the industry, management of the pharmaceutical product life cycle and the clinical research process, as well as essential marketing and sales operation concepts and skills needed to operate business within the industry.
Build-Your-Own Option
Students who do not wish to have a concentration may select 12 units from the different MBA concentrations in consultation with their academic advisor.
