PSY85013U - Advanced Clinical Skills: Evidence-Based Treatments for Trauma

This course is designed to build graduate-level knowledge in the area of evidence-based treatment of trauma across the lifespan. It is the second course in the trauma sequence, building upon the knowledge that students gained in the first course related to foundations of trauma and trauma assessment. It is designed to integrate research and best practice guidelines related to treatment of different types of traumas in diverse populations and settings. In this course, students will be introduced to best practice in trauma treatment through the tracking of treatment progress to inform and modify treatment as needed, decision-making skills related to treatment selection, knowledge of evidence-based treatment components, and introduction to self-reflection and self-care for the trauma therapist. Additionally, this course is designed to develop doctoral students’ empirical knowledge base in trauma intervention.
Prerequisites: PSY65230, PSY65280 and PSY75040
