Program Description/Overview
In addition to the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling MACC Program , the Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling program is designed for students who are preparing to specialize as marriage, couple, and family counselors. Graduates are expected to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to address a wide variety of issues in the context of relationships and families. This graduate level counselor education program curriculum will meet all the academic course work requirements and clinical hours required for mental health state professional licensing purposes.
This additional academic program offering is pending approval from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs -CACREP.
This program is not accepting students in Fall 2024.
Program Learning Outcomes/Goals
In addition to the nine (9) PLOs as listed in the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling MACC Program , the Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling program adds an additional Program learning outcome which integrates the core competency areas of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) 2016 Standards as well as the Professional Practice Competencies of Alliant-IMPACT.
* PLO 10: Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling: Students are expected to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to address a wide variety of issues in the context of relationships and families.
Internship, Practicum, and/or Dissertation Information
In addition to the Practicum and Internship requirements listed for the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling MACC Program , students seeking the Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling degree must also document a minimum of 150 hours of face-to-face experience counseling individuals, couples, families, or groups.
There is no Dissertation requirement.

Degree Requirements
To graduate from the program, students are required to complete:
- 700 hours of fieldwork, with 280 hours of direct client contact
- Successful completion of the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam, a national exam administered by the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE), used by many clinical counseling programs nationwide.
